Mr Harbour has previously won this title, so it is with much pride the cup returns to pride of place within his Lydiard street butcher's shop.
For those of us who enjoy the carnivourous delights of eating ethically raised meats, Harbour sells a wonderful range of small goods. He also raises a herd of hereford cattle himself and occasionally offers aged rump for sale from these beasts.
I have long enjoyed John Harbours truly, officially, exceptional quality ham, bacon, lamb, beef, chicken and pork.
My dog equally relishes Harbour's Mate's Loaf, free of the fillers and additives often used by commercial pet food companies, as well as fantastic dog bones, that keep Whippet Boy occupied and dentally up to par on a regular basis.
If you have not tried John Harbour's meats and live locally it is time you did.
I challenge anyone with as good a butcher as John Harbour, to ever be satisfied with prepacked mass produced supermarket meats again.
John Harbour allows his meats to "take time", to be raised ethically on local pastures and once humanely butchered, to hang long enough for the meat to naturally achieve maximum tenderness and tone.
I urge others to think carefully about where and how their meatt is being raised and marketed. Locally produced meat, minimises transport miles, thus avoiding additional carbon production through long transporting.
