Ragnar Ludbrok/Lothbrok, forefather of the Ludbrooks
Ragnar Ludbrok/Lothbrok, is famous for the "hairy trousers' he wore into his many and bloody battles. He, was the Viking that led the invasions of England and France. Our surname actually means "hairy trousers" in Danish.
Invasion completed, he set up his sons to rule the new lands, whilst he ruled on as King of Denmark.
Ludbrooks, Ludbrookes and Ladbrokes can all trace their ancestry back to these Viking forbears. No doubt there are also French derivatives of the Ludbrok/ Ludbroth name!
Ragnar is the subject of Viking sagas, legends and poetry. Most recently, the character of Ragnar was the subject of the first series of the 'Vikings' series.
Have no doubt, if you are a Ludbrook, you are of royal descent!
