Not only are they incapable of recognising the beauty, or uniqueness of their destination, the burdened traveller, also likes to burden others with their problems, in the hope that person might be able to solve them, provide advice, but usually confer with their own opinion about their problem, thus also preventing their companion from enjoying the immediacy and glory of their surrounds too.
And they do this repeatedly!
I witnessed a burdened traveller in Florence, bemoan her boyfriend's attitude and loyalty, back in America, to her travelling companion recently. Her tirade continued for well over an hour. We neared the Point de Veccio, a glorious vista and vantage point across the architectural jewels of the renaissance, but the burdened traveller and her companion, were essentially, still back in their hometown in the USA, completely oblivious to the wonderful destination that surrounded them.
I felt like shaking the burdened traveller and advising her to "look around you, you may never have the opportunity to travel here again, it is glorious!"
The most pertinent advice I can offer to anyone travelling, is to live in the moment, enjoy your travels and leave the excess baggage where it belongs; at home!
